"To develop the space industry and build China into a space power is our eternal dream," emphasized President Xi Jinping. Xidian University, following President Xi Jinping's instructions, established the School of Aerospace Science and Technology (SAST) in July 2013, with the aim of making consistent contributions to China's advancement as a space power. Bao Weimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Director of the Science and Technology Committee at China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), serves as the honorary president.
SAST offers four undergraduate programs—Detection Guidance and Control Technology, Space Science and Technology, Aircraft Design and Engineering, and Aircraft Control and Information Engineering—along with the Qian Xuesen Aerospace Science Experimental Class (hereinafter referred to as Qian Xuesen class), distinguished as the only program focused on electronic information among universities in China. We have established two disciplines: Instrument Science and Technology, and Control Science and Engineering, while also actively pursuing the establishment of an Aerospace Science and Technology discipline.
