Areas of Research Interests:
Using unmanned vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as carriers to establish the fundamental theories, key technologies, and collaborative verification platforms for intelligent autonomous moving bodies.
1. New methods for machine understanding of perception and behavior, complex task planning, and reasoning under uncertain conditions in open environments
2. Optimized decision-making and mutual learning through human-machine collaboration in open environments based on new theories and methods of machine learning, along with brain-inspired new computational architectures and approaches
3. Heterogeneous many-core parallel processing methods and platforms aimed at intelligent computing, embedded video processing, and ultra-fast video data storage technology
4. Cognitive modeling and learning of intelligent autonomous moving bodies in open environments, and decision knowledge feature extraction and knowledge discovery based on multi-source heterogeneous data
5. Extraction of decision-making optimization rules in uncertain small-sample environments and deep learning, as well as intelligent decision-making architectures and methods with predictive and self-optimizing functions

Awards and Honors:
Sun Wei, born in Anhui Province, holds a Doctor of Engineering degree and is a professor and doctoral supervisor. He received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Xidian University in 2002, 2005, and 2009, respectively. He was promoted to associate professor and master's supervisor in 2012, and was selected as a doctoral supervisor and promoted to professor in 2017. He is the head of the provincial-level Embedded Systems Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Xidian-DJI Innovation Experimental Base. He is a member of IEEE and SPIE. In addition, he has been a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. He serves as a reviewer for international journals such as IEEE Signal Processing Letters and Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems.
