Areas of Research Interests:
● Civil and industrial applications of aerospace technology
His research group has long focused on the integrated industrial applications of aerospace technology. The main research fields include the industrial chain applications of the Tiantong satellite and the industrial applications of plasma technology (such as personal disinfection products, skin management products, new combustion devices, and plasma chemical applications). The research group has established the Cross-domain Converged Private Network Communication Engineering Center in Xi'an, which undertakes the industrial transformation of aerospace technology, incubation of student-led entrepreneurial projects, and integration with the industrial chain. These research fields are suitable for students with strong organizational abilities, practical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, or those who wish to start their own businesses. (Familiarity with enterprises and product development processes provides a significant edge for graduates to enter enterprises.)
● New aerospace electronic technologies and applications
The research group has long been involved in aerospace test flight missions and promotes the application and development of new aerospace electronic technologies by planning flight missions once a year. The research fields include wireless information interconnection of flight vehicles, non-contact electrical separation interfaces, highly reliable aerospace software systems, new sensing and detection technologies, electrical system design for flight vehicles, high-real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation, power electronics, and wireless power transfer technology. Currently, all achievements have been validated through flight tests or put into application. These research fields are suitable for students with strong hands-on abilities and an interest in the electronic system and hardware/software design, or those who wish to participate in aerospace missions. (Familiarity with aerospace processes provides a significant edge for graduates to enter research institutes.)
● Multi-domain intermediate communications in extreme environments
Humans can extend the reach of information beyond the solar system, yet still face many extreme environments where the transmission of even 1 bit of information is impossible. These environments share a common characteristic of being surrounded by high-loss media, such as the "blackout" issue in flight vehicles, deep-sea and far-sea communication and navigation, and underground communications. The research focuses on new mechanisms and methods for electromagnetic propagation and information transmission across high-loss media and multiple domains (ground-sea-air), strong electromagnetic signal excitation and information loading technologies, ultra-weak signal detection technology, novel electromagnetic materials and antennas, and communication technology in extreme environments. The goal is to bridge "information islands" and facilitate information transmission. These research fields are suitable for students with a strong foundation in mathematics and physics and a broad interest in science. (They are well-suited for those with a solid academic foundation and a focus on cutting-edge research, ideal for further studies.)

Awards and Honors:
XIE Kai, Doctor of Engineering, is a professor, doctoral supervisor, head of the first-level discipline of Instrument Science and Technology, and one of the first batch of leading professors under the Huashan Scholar Program. He is mainly engaged in the research of aerospace measurement, control and communication, while maintaining a broad research interest in weak signal detection technology, power electronics/wireless power transfer, and space scientific experiments. He has presided over major national projects, projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, (major) projects supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, as well as several horizontal projects of key research institutes. He has successively won second prizes in the Technological Invention Award and Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. He has published over 50 papers in international mainstream academic journals and conferences, and has obtained 38 invention patents. His projects have been included in the first batch of projects supported by the Program of Local Transformation of Major Scientific and Technological Achievements in Xi'an City and the first batch of projects supported by the Qinchuangyuan "Scientists + Engineers" Team Building Program. Most of his research achievements have been put into practical application with satisfactory results yielded. With excellent teaching capabilities, he won first prize in the University's 7th Young Teachers' Lecture Contest, and is a member of the University's competition coaching team, guiding students to win over 20 national first prizes and two grand prizes in competitions such as the National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest and the Intel Cup Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest- Embedded System Design Invitation Contest. He has also published one monograph and three textbooks. In addition, he is among the first batch of teachers selected for the national talent pool of 10,000 outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship mentors of the Ministry of Education.
